WHAT IS PLAYBALL?

 

The Playball program is a movement and sports program for children ages 2-9. It is progressive in nature, starting with the basic movement patterns for the younger kids and progressing to sport drills for the older kids. The program was created in 1982 and is constantly being updated by sports experts, occupational therapists and educational specialists. Playball is not just another ball program. It is a highly specialized program that gives children competence in sports, we help them develop skills that are not associated with sports at all.

We focus on skills for 6 sports: basketball, baseball, tennis, soccer, volleyball, and field hockey. Our program uses these sports as the means to teach life skills such as sharing, sportsmanship, listening, empathy, concentration, and the list goes on. The program offers learning oppurtunities and experiences relating to the cognitive, physical, social, and emotional development of the child.

WHY PLAYBALL?

In today's way of life with TV and computer games, movement is more important than ever for our kids! It had been scientifically proven that physical activity has a profound influence on academic performance.

 

 

 

 

The Playball Program is divided into 6 stages:

2 - 3 years Two Can Do
3 - 4 years Watch Me @ 3
4 - 5 years Dinkies
5 - 6 years Preps
6 - 7 years Players
7- 8 years Pre- Seasoned Sports

We find that children who attend Playball display:

increased confidence and independence
motivation to want to succeed
persistence and courage to keep on trying
a mature attitude to both winning and handling disappointment
the ability to take part in not just one, but muliple sports
a love for physical activity and sport
